The aiguille and snowbud in money are two types of white tea. Will a tea merchant sell a special mixture of these?The aiguille and snowbud in money are two types of white tea. A tea merchant will sell a special mixture of these two teas. If the aiguille in money sells for $5 by the book and the snowbud the sales for $3 by the book, how much every duty she mixes to have 100 books of a mixture that sells for $4.50 by the book?
A classical question. Leave the s is the number of books of tea of snowbud used.
The total cost of every type of tea and the mixture as a body then is used.
3S + 5(100 - the s) = 450 (This is the total cost of every tea and the mixture)
3S + 500 - 5S = 450
-2S + 500 = 450
-2S = -150
the s = 75
Therefore, 75 books of tea of snowbud and 25 books of tea of aiguille in money would be used for the mixture.
Leave the quantity of aiguille in money to be mixed = the x books
and the quantity of Snowbud to be mixed = the books of there
The following equations can be formed
x + there = 100 ...........I
5X + 3Y = 100*4.50 = 450.......II
Multiply the first equation by 5 and deduct the second therefrom
5X + 5Y = 500
5X + 3Y = 450
After the subtraction that we obtain 2Y = 50
there = 50/2 = 25
Substitute the value of there in the first equation
x + 25 = 100
x = 100 - 25 = 75
Therefore 75 books of aiguille in money and 25 books of Snowbud that she should mix
to have 100 books of a mixture that can be sold to $4.50 by the book
